Evaluation, Diagnosis and Treatment

Initial Evaluation and Diagnosis

I see patients up to 21 years of age for ADHD, behavioral problems and academic difficulties, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and OCD. In person and virtual appointments are available. In person appointments are strongly encouraged for the new patients and for young children. The duration of the initial evaluation depends on the complexity, and is typically divided in 2 separate visits.

Communication with Teachers, Therapists, etc.

Communication with Other Professionals

Communication with physicians, teachers, therapists, and neuropsychologists is often an essential part of both the initial evaluation and ongoing patient management. Written reports and clinical questionnaires are reviewed in detail, and results discussed with the family.

Medication Management

Ongoing Medication Management

It takes a few weeks to arrive at an appropriate medication regimen, during which time more frequent visits are necessary. Once the regimen is found, a follow up visit every 3 months is required for ongoing care (and every 2 months for patients with ADHD while the stimulant medication shortages continue). If a new concern arises that cannot be addressed in a quick email exchange, an additional visit will be required.

Additional Laboratory Testing

Additional Laboratory Testing

Certain medical conditions can mimic or exacerbate mental and behavioral illness. Lab work will be ordered when indicated. Quest or Labcorp facilities are in-network with major insurance plans. Please confirm with your plan which facility is in-network, before tests are ordered.

Paying for Services

Dr. Aronov is an out-of-network provider, as insurance plans do not adequately reimburse for the physician’s time needed to deliver high quality care.

For each visit, the family can receive a superbill containing the diagnosis (ICD-10), procedure (CPT) codes, and fees charged and paid, which can be submitted to the insurance plan for possible out-of-network coverage. Knowing the specifics of their insurance coverage and the paperwork submission are the family’s responsibility. If receiving the out-of-network reimbursement is essential for the family, it is advised that the family reach out to their insurance company prior to the visit to confirm the details of coverage, including the accepted diagnosis and procedure codes.

The fees for services are time-based. Both face-to-face time spent with the patient, and non face-to-face time spent on communication about the patient, review of relevant data etc. are counted as billable time.

$500 for 60 minutes (10 min set aside for visit documentation)

$400 for 45 minutes (5 min set aside for visit documentation)

$300 for 30 minutes (5 min set aside for visit documentation)

The payment is due immediately after the completion of each visit. Visa or MasterCard are acceptable forms of payment. An active credit card on file must be present at the time of each appointment, and it will be charged following the appointment.

“Dr. Aronov’s attentiveness and presence with our daughter was helpful in an early diagnosis and thus an early intervention to access services to support her in school. We are so grateful for her eagle eyes and supportive heart!”
